In a world structured around binary gender, for many the first reaction to seeing a body is to search for markers of gender. As someone who does not identify with gender, these strict boundaries and confines are constant, oppressive, and pervasive. Under a year after having a surgery I would not

have needed to want were it not for a cis audience refusing to read me or my body as anything other than the gender they imposed upon me without it, my relationship with my body was particularly present in my mind. Each of these images features a trans body.
